Facilities and Services in Grenada Village
|
The facilities available to residents in Grenada
Village are regarded as being excellent and quite exceptional with the area having
more amenities available to its residents than any other suburbs in Wellington of
a similar size.

Some of these facilities include a modern
community and recreation hall, two fully enclosed sealed tennis courts, a children's
play area that recently underwent a $50,000 upgrade, two large sports fields, and
Seton Nossiter Park - a 30ha protected natural recreational reserve with established
walkways through native bush, open space, streams and several informal picnic areas.
The park is very sheltered and has its own microclimate. It is used for may different
outdoor activities by a large variety of people

Grenada Village is serviced by Mana Coaches.
Buses travel direct to and from Courtney Place during the peak periods, or transfer
at the Johnsonville hub to the Churton Park service to the city in off-peak times.
A separate school bus service for students operates to and from Grenada Village
to both Newlands Intermediate and Newlands College.

Grenada Village is well covered by nearby
schools with Paparangi Kindergarten, Paparangi Primary School, Newlands Intermediate
and Newlands College. The college also runs adult education classes. All of these
schools have high ERO ratings and commendations. Newlands College is internationally
recognised as being a high quality educational institution with many students attending
from a variety of overseas countries.

Children's Groups are represented with Keas,
Cubs, Scouts, Pippins, Brownies, Guides and Rangers. There are also two children's
playgroups holding mid week sessions in the community hall.

Grenada Village operates a Neighbourhood Watch/Support
structure.
Effective crime prevention has become a joint
Police and community responsibility, and an established network providing information
and support in invaluable.
