The Grenada Village Community Association Inc. was established on September 14,
1978.
In June 1986, the Community Association was formally registered in the High Court
of New Zealand as an Incorporated Society with full legal status and an agreed set
of declared rules and objectives.
The executive of the Association consists of duly elected officers, being a Chairperson,
Treasurer, Secretary, and general committee members.
The financial year of the Association is October
1 - September 30 each year.
Annual financial membership of the Association
is by a voluntary subscription of $10 per household.
All residents receive the Associations quarterly
newsletter that concentrates on the issues and developments that directly impact
on the community. The newsletter is also sent to a large number of others who have
a professional interest in Grenada Village - MP Hon. Peter Dunne, Mayor, City Councillor's,
Regional Councillor's, various Council management and departments, local schools,
police, newspapers, and several others.
The Association spends a considerable
amount of time representing Grenada Village. They negotiate with the City Council
and others over services to be provided, and attend many meetings with various community
organisations to ensure that the suburb is appropriately acknowledged. The Association
also advocates and negotiates on specific matters on behalf of individual residents,
when requested to do so.
The Association manages and administers the
Grenada Village Community Hall and tennis courts.
The Association's prime objective is to provide
the residents of the Village with an officially recognised representative body that
combines and works with the local municipal authorities and other organisations,
for the betterment and overall interest of the Grenada Village community.
The Association's specific objectives and
goals include the following:
|
To identify, represent and advocate for the local community interest and to ensure
that these interests are fully recognised and appropriately acknowledged.
|
|
To build a strong community and develop community spirit and involvement.
|
|

|
|
To be involved in any City Council planning for the suburb.
|
